Grits – a type of porridge where the rough ground Sorghum meal is boiled until soft.
Bread – thin flatbreads made from a flour, water and salt mix - just dropped straight onto a hot griddle. Similar to Roti, Tortilla, chapatti

Meat = Chicken, Venison, Wild Boar, Rabbit (cows are for dairy not meat)
Fish = Serried Grouper, Yellow Herring, sea food
Cultivated Vegetables = Potato, Sweet Potato, Turnip, Radish
Cultivated Fruit =Gooseberry, Blueberry, (Mayapple, used for brewing)
Cultivated spices = Juniper used for spice and brewing
Wild stuff = pecan nuts, cherries ginger (Used as a spice) (There are others – these are the most common)
Eggs
Milk
Cheese

Notes – milk and cheese are expensive as there aren’t that many cows.

Light meals – 1gp

Breakfast bowl. A small bowl of sweet grits with a few berries stirred in.
Farmers bowl. A small bowl of savoury grits with a few vegetables stirred in.
Fishers bowl. A small bowl of savoury grits with some seafood stirred in.
Hunters bowl. A small bowl of savoury grits with a few pieces of meat stirred in.
Hunters Wrap. Cold meat & radish wrapped in a flat bread to make a “sandwich”.
Fishers Wrap. Cold fish & radish wrapped in a flat bread to make a “sandwich
Blueberry Slice. A bar of whole meal sorghum and blueberries set with honey.
Gooseberry Pudding. A bowl of gooseberries in sweet custard.

Stew. A large bowl of meat cooked with vegetables in gravy– served with bread.
Fish Stew. A large bowl of fish, sea food and vegetables in light sauce– served with bread.
Farmers Stew. A large bowl of hot vegetables in a clear sauce – served with bread.

Prepared meals – 2 gp

Ham ‘n Eggs. Slices of cold meat, served with fresh eggs, mushrooms and bread.
Ham ‘n Veg. Slices of cold meat, served with a small portion of vegetable stew and bread.


Posh Grub

Roast Haunch of Venison with a Juniper sauce, served on a bed of mixed mashed potatoes, with exotic vegetables.

Slow baked fillet of grouper, served with exotic vegetables and gingered potatoes.

Game Pie (Venison, boar and rabbit) topped with wheat pastry imported from Lothran served with Elven vegetables.

Rabbit Stew Served with Lothran wheat dumplings.

Syn Gond Mushroom soup. Served with bread

Exotic vegetables = peas, Onions, celery etc

Syn Gond mushroom soup uses underground mushrooms flavoured with Syn Gond moss.

ELven Vegetables (are what ever grow around the elven forests)

Fishers’ Wrap - Cold fish & radish wrapped in a tortilla to make a “sandwich”
Birdies Wrap – scrambled egg & radish wrapped in a tortilla to make a “sandwich”
Travelers’ Mix = pieces of nut and dried berries flavoured with ginger and juniper.
Blueberry slice - A bar of whole meal sorghum and blueberries set with honey

Main Dishes

Meat / fish - roasted or grilled (In expensive restaurants it may well have a Juniper sauce)
Roasted vegetables (Potato, sweet potato, turnip)
Mashed vegetables. (either Potato, sweet potato, turnip – boiled and then mashed – perhaps with a little ginger or juniper added)
Stew (can have either meat, fish, or seafood as well as vegetables cooked together in one pot) A bowl of seafood stew accompanied by a flatbread is a standard meal in cheap lodgings - and stews tend to be the main meal of most citizens as well. (More upmarket places will flavour with ginger)

Fresh or preserved berries
Blueberry slice (Rough pastry bar incorporating Blueberries and honey - simiolar to Oat Cakes) normally served cold
Gooseberry Pudding. A light mixture of flour and eggs, incorporating gooseberry and ginger. Served hot
