Building Progress

I will use this page to chart the progress of building the areas and NPCs in New Hope proper. I'm taking a different approach since there are so many areas/NPCs that I would like to have. I will complete a few areas(as time permits) and then return and add in NPCs later. After the NPCs I will leave the area for a later time to add in any outstanding details(conversations,stores,quests,etc,etc) for when we have a better idea for flow/objectives we want to see and accomplish within the city.

Completed

These areas are complete with placeables/sounds/enviromental effects/etc. Any outstanding work that needs to be done will be noted.

  • New Hope Exterior

In addition - 10 unique NPCs and 9 "commoners" for daytime(not including guards)1 unqiue NPC is in the outdoor market and is a merchant (store not yet completed)
In addition - 4 unique NPCs for nighttime(not including guards)

  • Arcane Shop(Scribe)

In addition 1 unqiue NPC along with crafting station(scribing) that can be used for a fee.

  • Bank

In addition 2 unique NPCs(Bank system not completed)

  • General Store

  • Smithy

  • "The Bog"

Tavern made of 3 levels. Main floor is the bar area; Basement is a stock room and Brewing Station(CNR); Upper level contains rooms available for rent/lease.
In addition 5 unique NPCs for daytime and 5 unique for nighttime. Still need to create bartender NPC and move spawns to NESS based system.

  • Temple of Torin

Church made of 3 levels. Main floor is worship area, library, kitchen, dinning room and head preist's quarters. Lower Level is the hospital,stockroom, Knights' Barracks and the "Gate" room. Upper Level contains bedrooms and a bathing area.(Possibly quarters for PCs to get via guild? - Clerics/Paladins)
In addition 8 unique NPCs and 5 commoners(worshipers). Led by Brother Nathan and priestess Breella.

  • Town Hall

3 Levels. Main floor contains the grand hall, throne room, and four offices(Commisoners' Office, Register's Office, Colloction Office, and Adjutant's Office)
Lower level contins the Magistrates Office, Jail, and entrance to levels of the underground.
Upper Level contains, the Archives, personal bedrooms(2), barracks for the "royal guard", bathrooms, kitchen and Diing Hall.
Main level has 9 NPCs + the 4 "Leaders" of New Hope and 4 officers(Collection,Commissioner,Adjutant,and Registration) as well as hall guards about.
Lower level has the magistrate and hall guards about.
Upper floor has "librarian" in the archives and hall guards about.

  • Mines

Main source of work for many of the town's citizens. Consists of 1 level(currently) that contains areas to mine copper ore and a small localized forge(CNR) area within. Need miner NPCs still?? Lower levels may contain an area to mine Tin and/or gem deposits possibly?? as well as consist of creature encounters to make it less "enjoyable" to mine.

  • University

2 Story building. Lower level has a main "courtyard" with areas for students to study and have class. There is also a library and private classrom on this level. Second story has the main sleeping quarters with bunks,kitchen,and bathroom.Additional rooms are also on this floor that would be used for professors and/or "special" students. No NPCs yet.

  • Ancient Sewers

Underground area filled with water. The street urchins can be found here as well as a series of vermin encounters for the PCs. This area connects to further underground levels of caves maybe that will contain a major quest(possible bandits or thieves robbing the town of funds, disrupting trade,etc). No NPCs yet.

  • Ancient Caverns

Underground area. This area will be the "home" of the local bandits/thieves that trouble the townsfolk in and around the city. Possible tie-in to "baddies" in the area that may be using the bandits as a source of disruption in the city and as well as their eyes and ears. Still need all NPCs/encounters as well as treasures.

  • Rab O'Rand's Home from Home

Small interior area. Orphanage/School room. No NPCs.

  • Mrs. Bean's School of New Hope

Small interior area. School room with a teacher's desk and two students' desks. No NPCs.

  • The Grammar School

Medium sized schoolhouse. Contains a living area w/ small shrine on the first floor, as well as a classroom. Second floor contains two bedrooms for Sally and Robert. No NPCs yet. The lower level conatins "The Reading Room". *Note* The door to the reading room is not secret since secret doors do not work in NWN2 yet.*sigh*

  • The Reading Room

A single large room located beneath the Grammar School. Carpets, wall hangings, paintings and various other decor litter this area. Many tables , chairs, couches and desks for relaxing. A small kitchen is also located in this area. No NPCs yet.

  • Public Works

A large area dedicated to crafting for the public(PCs). Contains various stations including -armorcrafting(and soon weaponcrafting), tinkering, tanning and gemcrafting. No NPCs yet.

  • Warehouse

A large supply house that is the main "hub" for all the wares in New Hope that are imported and exported. Possible place for a "warehouse master" to be here to purchase unusual items?? No NPCs yet.

Looking for a good idea for laying this out. this would also be a good spot for an alchemic skill station and eventually an enchanting station?

New Hope - Outer Farmlands

  • Small Farmhouse #1

This farmhouse is nearby one of the manors. While the family whom owns the manor obviously protects this house from enemies, the people here pay a tax to that family for the use of their lands. and home. The home is rather poor looking and it is shared by multiple families who tend the fields. 3 levels. Main floor consists of an entryway, living area(kitchen,living room) and bedroom. The attic has some additional bedrooms. The basement is filed with clutter and old crates. No NPCs yet.

  • Small Farmhouse #2

This is a small, one level, farmhouse. Nothing special about this area. No NPCs yet.

  • Cave

This is a medium sized interior cave complex filled with bats/rats and even the occasional black bear or two. :) Also has small deposists of greenstone gems and mushrooms about.

  • Large Barn

A small crafting house to including skill stations for baking, curing, and carpentry.

The Western Plains

  • Cave#1

This area is a small cavern that is/will be used by the "baddies" in the area as a storage area or "stash area". The area itself is complete but it needs
to be populated with encounters.

  • Cave #2

A large mine complex will make up the first level of this to represent a re-worked goblin mine. Lower level includes lower caverns with increased difficuolty of the spawns(orges,cave trolls,etc). Connected to Cave#3 through the lower level. No encounters yet.

  • Cave #3

Small set of caves that will eventually be populated with worgs and goblins alike.


River Inlet

I think I will use this an an ancient burial chamber of some sort that the people of "Golden Hope" once used to bury those that were lost.


River Crossing

This is the last "outpost" of the New Hope Guard. Even though they do not fully control the lands between them and New Hope they have set up along the riverbank in an attempt to twart wouldbe invaders from the caves of the steppe and beyond into the great desert. They have low morale and are aware that the orcs cross the river in the cves plan to attack them at any moment. Needs NPC,etc.

  • Cave Complex

Level 1 is completed but without encounters/CNR placeables.
*Note* The idea of this complex would be an Orc underground Mine/Lair. This would also be the "main base" to whatever "tribe" threatens New Hope directly and would tie into the bandits from the undercity sewers/caverns and to the higher powers yet to come. The first level is meant to be sparsely populated with enemies, but enough to know they are there and to warn intruders off. The lower levels are highly populated and should not be entered unless with a large party of powerful PCs.


Canton Woods

Completed but without encounters and CNR placeables. This is the edge of New Hope's reach. This area would represent wildlands between NewHope and Garthurian's Edge.

Garthurian's Edge

Completed without CNR placeables or encounters. A great wall with large stone towers protect the edges of enormous trees that lay beyond. This is Garthurian's edge.
*Note* This area will not be passable until Garthurian is complete(not in the near future) and the PCs have first seen Garthurian via the portal.
